Show and Tell Friday!

I often say that what I love best about this job (besides all the fabric!) is seeing how customers combine fabric selections in projects. Today is no exception!

Which came first, the bear or the quilt?
Mavyn is behind the Boulder Bear Works etsy shop, where she makes adorable teddy bears and fun, modern baby/children’s quilts. A while back, she’d found the Urban Pods pattern by Sew Kind of Wonderful—”I loved the clean lines and unique modern feel,” she says—and then started searching for ”just the right combination of yellow and grey fabrics” to give the quilt a sophisticated yet fun look.

After making her Dylan bear out of Premier Prints’ gray and white chevron print and finishing him off with a cheery yellow bow, Mavyn expanded her foray into coordinating gray and yellow prints to create the quilt.

”The fabrics give [the quilt] the sophisticated yet fun look I wanted: clean and graphic. I was already working with the grey and white chevron fabric from Premier Prints collection for my Dylan bear. The Suzani and Gotha gray and white prints in this same line are perfect for the clean, graphic look I wanted. For the yellow, I finally settled on the beautiful 100% organic cotton Mod Basics line in sun from Birch fabrics. I love how the adorable elephants in the Ellie Fam fabric peak out from the more graphic prints of the rest of the fabrics, allowing this quilt to be equally at home in a sophisticated nursery or as lap quilt anywhere in the house.”

Thanks so much for sharing your quilt and bear with us, Mavyn!
